Well Ladies, I got him!  What a hunt!! Thanks to the hubby, he had me on a few different bulls and I had buck fever....wait...bull fever so bad I missed 'em!!  So on the last day to hunt (Had to go to Utah to the snow show!  Priorities ya know!! )We spotted this guy!!  I took 2 shots at him and bummer.......the heard all runs off we wait a few minutes and Jeff hikes over to the scene and NO blood!!!  What!!!  I was so disappointed in myself that I missed again!!!  So we decide to try to push the heard back out of the pines they ran into and maybe get lucky and get another shot at a bull.  So I hike up a ridge to get in position and Jeff starts to hike around the peak to push them out.  So I'm waiting and I keep hearing this sound down below me.  After 4 times of hearing it I radio Jeff and tell him I hit something??? I kept thinking...did I hit a calf????  These cries were the weirdest sound I ever heard.  Jeff says we'd better go check it out and right then this bull runs out of the quakes below us and heads right for this pond, he gets in it, starts rolling in it and then just stands in the middle of it!!!!!!!  (He was bleeding out inside and must of been feverish and was trying to cool off.)  I'm freaking out now!  Calling Jeff on the radio....."he's in the pond...I hit him!!!"  Then the a$$ lays down in the pond and dies right in the middle of it!!  What Thaaaa!??!  Here is some pics......

Jeff fishing him out of the water hole!!

Yeah!!!!  I got my first Bull ever!!!!!

My pack horse, Jeff!  Thanks honey!!

GP Thumbs up!!!!!!!  LOL!

Home and gettin him ready to be mounted...

You should be so proud. I can't wait to share this with my dad. He would be totally excited. The two of you can share your hunting stories. So.... Do you actually gut the kill yourself? I don't think I could do that. I would either dry heave or throw up a little.

What was that like? Jeff looks pretty bloody. Hopefully this sort of thing never happens to one of you. Check it out. LMAO!!!!

LOL!!  Thanks gals!!

I helped out quite a bit with the gutting but when Jeff would let me do it myself, I was doing it too slow and he'd take the knife and do it!!  Which was fine with me cause he so fast and good at it!!!  LOL!  I was pretty bloody myself but after that pic of me and the elk by the water hole, Jeff didn't pick the camera up after that to take any more pics of me.  We got home later and he was like..." I only took a couple pics of ya..sorry....!"  It's all good tho!  I work for a vet also so I see and touch the inerds (sp??) of animals all day long.

It was pretty neat to get my first elk.  LOTS of work getting him out of there with no wheeler or horses.  Jeff and I packed him out all by ourselves.
