it's been over a year, but i came across my pix on my comp, and thought they were awesum, and i should share!
a friend of mine flies for fun on the side. for my bday, he wanted to take me up in a cessna for an hour to show me toronto from above. lemme tell you, it was one hella experience. i was always afraid of flying since i was a kid...but this was something totally different. he went around the plane with me, explained everything, showed me the instruments, what he's gotta do, etc. we get into the plane, strap on our headsets, and finally got the clear to take off. well, in order to cross over INTNL airspace, you have to radio into the tower to get permission. he radios the woman at pearson international, and requests us to cross through. she says "permission granted, carry on at 3000 ft". ok, no biggie...we're following the road along lake ontario...then she comes back on FREAKING out! my buddy radios after she contacts us, and SHE screwed up! we were on the flight path of a GIANT 747!!! it was about 500 ft above us, and we're already at the 3000ft mark, and he's coming in for a landing! so she tells us to maintain at 2000ft, so my buddy oblidges, throttles all the way back, and we drop like a bloody stone towards the lake...omg, that was such a bizarre feeling!!! then it was like we were dogfighting around the cn tower, as there's the island airport there as well, and a plane with a very similar callsign to ours approaches us from behind at, about 400ft behind out tail! omg! it was radio chaos!!! we did a few circles around the cn tower, i got some sick pics, and had a freekin' awesum time. for those who are afraid, don't be...it's such an exhilerating experience....especially when the controls are handed off to you, so you can fly it yourself....

1.first pic is of our sleek ride. so pretty...so um, tiny...
2. a view of the cn tower
3. this is a horizon pic as we were heading back to the airport. if you look kinda to the upper far right of the pic, there's a blob of brownish buildings...that's where i live! my condo!!!
4. a cool pic of some ice busting out.
5. this is the ontario place. it's open during the summer, waterpark, outdoor concert hall, games, theatre, it's a neat place to hit up if you're visiting.
6. battleship!!!
7. lil' ol' me sportin my sexy headset, as i'm flyin' da plane...topgun anyone?!

Soooo neat!

I had that experience a few years ago, internet friend has his own plane and flew to Michigan and took us up.  I have flown passenger airlines plenty, but to be in a small plane...  I was terrified.  Till he started it up, then all fear left and I was full enthralled!  Got to fly over all of this area, get pictures of our house, etc. It was neat, trying to figure out where we were, using lakes and such as identifiers.  I had zero fear.

Got to fly to Europe this summer and that was neat too, but who can sleep on a plane? Not me.  Arriving, I was tired and had to stay up all day that first day (after flying all night).  On our flight back, we flew over Greenland ? Iceland? and one could see the snow and like icebergs in the ocean below.

We live on such an amazing planet, I am grateful for life on a daily basis.

Just like today, almost 70F outside and it is almost mid-November.  I'm still on crutches, hubby got the quad out for me and I was able to get out and around and enjoy the scenery and the day.  A sunny day in November is as enjoyable as a sunny day in July, for me.  Unfortunately, I heard Michigan is in an El Nino pattern... Not good for thoughts of snow.
